There is a great new app available through the iTunes App Store which allows you to edit your photo using a wide variety of preset filters and scripts.?? Once eidted, you can save them back to your camera roll to be emailed, used as wallpaper, or uploaded to your favorite photo site.?? Best of all, a computer is not needed!

Enhancements range from color, contrast, saturation to making your image Blackand White or a sepia tone.?? Additional tools allow you to rotate, crop and even apply some artistic effects such as a picasso effect and pencil sketch.?? All and all, there are about 100 different effects and filters available for all your iPhone images.

The Best Grooms Cake Ever

I have yet to get around to posting pictures from my own wedding from newly three months ago, but I did want to post a pic of my grooms cake.

It was a slightly oversized, Florida State Seminole football helmet. Baked by Edgewood Bakery in Jacksonville, the cake was made of pound with a rolled fondant over the cake colored and shaped to replicate a FSU football helmet.

My wife and I loved it and it was a perfect compliment to her beautiful cake also baked by Edgewood Bakery (also pictured)

Redesign…again…

I am working on the third version of my photo site. I started with smugmug which lacked customization possibilities. Next was my first attempt at designing and building. It was done well if you ask me, but there were issues which were better sol we with a redesign.

On this design, I decided I should focus more on usability and web 2.0. I’ll admit, I went with a pre-built template mostly because I didn’t have the time to design from scratch. So the design you see is a modified template I found on the web.

In the process, i’ve decided I need to focus on the content of my site as well as the photography. I plan to blog more and add helpful hints and tips for photographers. Would love to get feedback on the new design.

iPhone and Computer wallpapers

Someone once told me I should make some of my images into computer desktops.?? I never did in fear of my images would simply be downloaded instead of purchased (every photographers dream and subsequent nightmare).?? Also, after seeing how popular iphone wallpapers have become, I have decided I can use this as somewhat of a marketing vehicle.

In any case, I have converted some of my more popular photography into computer desktops available for you to download.?? I have also created some iphone wallpapers from my gallery of photography.

Blue Angels in Flight

The 2007 Sea and Sky Spectacular was recently held at Jacksonville Beach. The Blue Angels closed the show with high speed, low altitude fly-bys. Thee blue Angels are comprised of 6 F/A-18 Hornets and are in their 20th year of operation. Additional pictures can be found here. All photography is available for sale

Wedding Photography

My Fiance and I are in in the middle of planning for our wedding. One thing that we are researching right now is finding the perfect wedding photographer. We’ve found there will always be a photographer for any wedding budget. Many photographers offer packages or al la carte services that will fit what you are looking for. Below are some things to keep an eye out for when finding your photographer…

Look for a photographer that will provide you with original images on a CD or DVD. This will allow you to print images later and of course keep a copy of your special day forever. Ask if you can reprint these without their permission or whether any special permission is required.
Most photographers will provide you with the option to print images which have had some artistic elements applied to your images. Most likely, you will not get copies of these images.
Make sure you discuss ahead of time the time range which you will require his/her services. Some packages may only be scoped for 4 hours but your wedding may be 5.
Are there special poses you want or pictures with a certain group of people? Work with the photographer ahead of time to be sure they know what you want. They will also be able to provide some guidance if you are struggling with ideas.
Look for their portfolio. Most photographers put their portfolios online. Great part about this is you can review their work before you call them. Saves you from making a phone call and scheduling an appointment when you may not like their work.
See if they may offer a discount for an engagement session or bridal session. These may be included in packages they offer.
Does the photographer offer printing services? If so, how much does it cost?
Will more than one photographer be required? Will it cost more?

We are learning these things ourselves so I am sure there is more. Feel free to leave some comments if you think I’ve missed anything.

My Life as a photographer…

I have recently taken an interest in digital photography. All it took was a nice camera and some beautiful scenery. Since that day, I am constantly looking to improve my technique and learn more about digital photography. What I’ve found is there are just not enough sites out there that do a good job in explaining things. Even the most basic concepts such as aperture and exposure. Sure, they do a great job for those who have been into photography since the days of film. With the advances in technology, camera companies are making it easier than ever for any one to pick up a camera and take a few pictures. In fact, you can shoot a picture with a point and shoot camera and then shoot the same image with a digital SLR, and you will instantly notice a difference. Why? I will be explaining this over the course of my blog. Now, I do all my photography with a Nikon D50, but I will try to be as general as possible.
